  Interview DO's and Don'ts

 

Only a small proportion of applicants are selected for interviews so if you have got to this stage then you have already made a positive impression! The interview is your chance to present the evidence of your ability to do the job

 

Get organised-Prepare yourself

 

Collect information about the company and about the interview process. Know where the building is and how to get there. Ask your A1 Square recruitment consultant to give you background information about the company. Go to the company website and read all about them. Print off information and highlight relevant and Interesting facts and figures. Carry your resume (always bring an extra copy), pen, notepad and testimonials.

 

First Impression plays an important role

  • Wear a smart but comfortable outfit.
  • Look at all interviewers (if a panel) when greeting them, smile.
  • Do shake hands firmly. Don't have a limp or clammy handshake!
  • Be polite and friendly to all
  • Be confident
  • Be honest and be yourself

 

Things to remember:

 

  • Arrive at your interview 10 or 15 minutes early.
  • Switch off your cell phone or keep it on silent.
  • Sit straight and don't slouch.
  • Be calm and composed.
  • Speak loud and clear.
  • Listen to the interviewer question carefully. Don't interrupt.
  • Ask for clarification if you don't understand a question.
